I had the best meeting with my favorite professor a couple of weeks ago. I went in to discuss a class he is teaching in the Fall and to ask about his Capstone course. I left there and had to redo almost my entire schedule.
Dr. S wants me to join the history honor society, Phi Alpha Theta. Although my overall GPA isn’t high enough he said he might be willing to overlook that. I’ve requested my transcript and have to give it to him next week.
We talked a bit about graduate school and he seems pleased that the French Revolution will be my primary focus. I have to take a year or so off but that actually works out well as Dr. S will be out for a year writing a book on the Russian revolution. I imagine he will be my adviser in grad school.
Next semester I am now taking 5 hours of elementary French as Dr. S said I will need to learn French and possibly German (eek!) for grad school. The French class is added on to the Comparative Revolutions, Modern France, History since 1877, and Social Psychology courses I signed up for. That’s 17 hours total. Yikes! Guess it’s time to talk with PICGirl & RPhGuy about hiring another tech.
I also had a really good meeting with my undergraduate adviser, RF. He again encouraged me to drop my first semester and retake those 9 hours and think I have decided to do it. He said he doesn’t think I will have a problem getting into grad school but getting that F off of my record will help. I have to go petition to the dean next week.
How long until things start to fall apart again?
